After I saw the election results on Tuesday night, and President Obama had won a second term, you could have knocked me over with a feather! I think the feather might have come from the golden goose that just got plucked, which is the former American way of life, and now our goose is cooked! It is not so much that the Democrats won, and the Republicans lost; it is that there was a clear distinction in ideology which separates the two parties. One is a system self reliance; of less dependence on government; the other; which was chosen; is a system of entitlements, and more dependence on government; more debt; less freedom!
There has never been a free market Democratic Republic like America anywhere in the world at any time in history, but there have always been countries ruled by governments throughout history! The country was founded on the principle that it's government would be of the people by the people and for the people, and this election will have changed that for generations, and maybe even forever.
Perhaps, the only way that this country will realize how foolish this President's policies are, is for the Republicans to let him have at it! Let Obama borrow all the money he wants, let him spend and tax to his hearts delight, and see how quickly his policies will lead to financial ruin and collapse in the country. Until then, no matter what happens, he will never take responsibility for his own decisions, and will always find a way to blame someone, or something else.
Now instead of celebrating Independence Day on July 4th, we should mourn Dependence Day on Nov. 6th. Of course that is what the people voted for; dependence on the government for so called free stuff! But the government does not have anything to give unless it takes it from someone else! Oh, he says, "tax the rich just a little more" as if that will solve the problem! Sure, like winning a million dollars, and getting paid a dollar a year will make you a millionaire!
After signing the declaration of Independence Benjamin Franklin what asked what he had done? "Given you a republic, if you can keep it," was his reply. This may be the generation that traded their birth right for a bowl of porridge; that traded freedom for food stamps!
