Holiday craft show set at area school

MUNCY - A holiday craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Muncy High School, West Penn Street.

The event will benefit the Muncy High School PTSA (Parents, Teachers, Students Association).

Admission is free. There will be 75 craft vendors with handmade crafts and Christmas crafts, along with a raffle, breakfast and lunch.

Toy drive to benefit Hurricane victims

There will be a toy drive, "Kids Helping Kids," from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hometown Floral and Gifts, 4 W. Southern Ave., South Williamsport.

Children can choose one of their own toys to donate. They will be accepting new and gently used toys of all ages.

The toys will be taken to an authorized drop off location in the New Jersey town where families lost everything in Hurricane Sandy.

There also will be baked goods for sale and a Chinese auction to raise funds to deliver the toys.

Dance scheduled for November

The Susquehanna Ballroom Dance Society will sponsor a ballroom dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Pre-recorded music provided for ballroom dancers of all levels will be provided.

The dance always is the third Saturday of each month. Attire is semi-formal.

Each month, 50 percent of the proceeds are given to the hospital Auxiliary Cancer Center.

Fundraising dinner set in Clarkstown

CLARKSTOWN - A chicken and waffle dinner will be served family style from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Muncy Area Fire Co. A fee will be charged for the meal.

Garden club to meet soon

The Loyalsock Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church.

The program will be "Making a Wreath Centerpiece," and members will make their own centerpiece.

Hostesses will be Susie Hass and Barb Flock, co-chairwomen, and the committee includes Lorraine Gates and Peggy Stepanski.

Quilt guild to plan next meeting

WELLSBORO - The November meeting of the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Gmeiner Arts and Cultural Center, 134 Main St.

Following a business meeting and a Show and Tell of members' recent quilt projects, the September Quilt Exhibit Viewer's Choice awards will be presented and a lecture and trunk show will be presented by Val Hill.

Hill teaches piecing and applique techniques, fabric dyeing and longarm quilting at her business, Val's Quilting, in Wyalusing.

Hill's presentation, "Color My World" will include information on color and fabric dyeing.

She has won awards for her art quilts at Machine Quilters Showcase, Quilt Odyssey and the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza.

She is active in the Greater Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce in promoting a barn quilt tour in Bradford County that showcases more than 200 barn quilts.
