AVIS - Two drivers suffered "major injuries" when their vehicles collided on Route 220 in Pine Creek Township about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, state police said.
Yvonne L. Martin, 43, of Lock Haven, was traveling north when her 2011 Subaru Legacy struck a deer, police said. Moments before the impact, Martin was moving into the passing lane in an effort to avoid striking the deer, police said.
After the animal was hit, Martin's car was struck in the rear by a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Justin M. Wenger, 27, of Lititz, police said.
Wenger was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, but a nursing supervisor was unable to confirm Thursday night that he was there.
Police said Martin was taken to Jersey Shore Hospital, but the facility does not provide condition reports on their patients.
