Roundup: Nittany Lion wrestlers beat Lehigh

No. 1 Penn State won eight of 10 bouts for a 29-6 victory over Lehigh to start the season in front of a sold-out Rec Hall. PSU's Dylan Alton, from Central Mountain, fell 4-2 to Joey Napoli in a bout of ranked wrestlers at 157. Defending NCAA?champ David Taylor then tech falled Benton graduate Eric Hess at 165. Lewisburg grad Nathaniel Brown lost 12-1 at 174 to Penn State's Matt Brown.

In men's basketball, Tim Frazier had 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists and Penn State earned a 55-52 overtime win over Providence at the Puerto Rico Tipoff on Friday. The teams struggled to score in the first half and the Friars took a 16-14 lead.

Mike Muscala had 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead six Bucknell players in double figures as the Bison rallied to beat Niagara 88-71 in the 2K Sports Classic.

Down by as many as 12 and 43-38 at the break, Bucknell (3-0) shot 64.3 percent in the second half (18 of 28) compared to 23.3 percent (7 of 30) for the Purple Eagles.

Lock Haven snapped a 44-game losing streak with a 95-74 win over Salem International. Wali Hepburn scored a game-high 25 points while grabbing nine rebounds for the Bald Eagles in the win.

In women's volleyball, Lock Haven defeated Cal (Pa.), 3-2, to advance to the PSAC Championship game. Four-time PSAC player of the year Gao Xuan led the Lady Eagles with 24 kills.
