DuBOISTOWN - The 32nd annual Frostbite 5-mile run and Penguin 5K walk will be held Dec. 9.
The events will start at 1 p.m. with race-day registartion taking place at the DuBoistown Fire Hall from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Early registration is requested and may be made by calling 279-0440 or online at www.runners pa.com.
All individual registering before Friday are guaranteed to receive a long sleeve shirt and are eligable for door prize drawings. Awards will be presented to top overall finishers in both events as well as age group awards will be presented.
Food and drinks will be available for registered participants.
The funds raised from these events will be donated to Lycoming County Special Olympics. Local business, individuals, participants and service groups have donated time, money and volunteer support for this event.
During the past nine Special Olympics has benefitted from the more then $42,000 that has been raised from the events.
The money raised helps the 175 athletes participating in Lycomiong County Special Olympics program train and compete in 15 different individual and team sports. Since all athletes participate at no cost, the monies are used to buy uniforms, travel expenses, registration and competition fees, facility rental and uniforms.
Special Olympics is a sports training and competition program for mentally challenged individuals age 7 and older.
