TOWANDA - Two people died in a head-on crash near here Tuesday morning.
According to state police, two male drivers, who were not identified by police, were traveling in opposite directions on Route 220 about 10:30 a.m. when the southbound operator of a Saturn SUV crossed over into the northbound lane as it tried to pass another vehicle and hit the northbound vehicle, a Subaru, head-on.
Both drivers died at the scene.
A passenger in one of the cars, a 10-year-old girl, was airlifted to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. The extent of her injuries or condition is unknown, police said.
