School board confirms coach in sparse week

The Williamsport Area School Board voted 7-1 to rescind the approval of David Cipriani as the high school baseball head coach. Cipriani originally was approved in October to hold the position. Voting in favor of rescinding were board members Lori Baer, David Stone Jr., Jerene Milliken, Karen Harris, Brette Confair, Jane Penman and Jay Shultz. Voting against the motion was board member Dale Vollman. Board member Thomas Zimmerman was absent from the meeting.

The East Lycoming School Board unanimously passed a resolution calling on Congress to prevent funding cuts if U.S. legislators fail to resolve fiscal matters, and also raised the minimum for sending purchases to bid from $10,000 to $18,500.

The Wellsboro Municipal Authority agreed to solicit bids to construct a building to hold a new filtration system.
