Man charged after allegedly trying to run down police
MANSFIELD - John L. Lansborough, 46, of 150 Mitchell Creek Road, Tioga, was charged by state police with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, after he allegedly used his car to try to run over a state police trooper in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Richmond Township on Nov. 26.
According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson's office, while a trooper was serving a bench warrant on Lansborough, instead of stopping when the trooper caught up with him getting into his van, he slammed his door shut and started the vehicle, then drove straight toward the trooper abruptly swerving at the last minute to avoid striking him. He then made a U-turn, speeding to the intersection and then failed to stop at the signal and turned left, fleeing south on Route 15. He was jailed in lieu of $35,000 bail and his preliminary hearing has been set for Dec. 5.
Man charged after domestic incident
WELLSBORO - Richard H. Moore III, 28, of 16 Norrisbrook Road, Middlebury Center, was charged by state police with making terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment following a domestic with his girlfriend on Nov. 12.
According documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office, the two argued over her asking him to help her get their son ready to go to Elmira, N.Y., with her and she told him to get out, at which point he threw a blanket over her head and started to suffocate her while she was holding the child. The fight continued after he let her go and she threw a candle at him, missing him, but he came after her and punched her in the left thigh, telling her he would kill her if she called police and that she would never see their son again. He was issued a summons to appear at a Dec. 18 preliminary hearing.
Man charged following incident with mother
WELLSBORO - Michael S. Odell, 27, of 15 E St., was charged by state police with simple assault, criminal trespass and harassment following a disagreement with his mother, Lisa Starkweather.
According to documents filed with District Judge Rob Repard's office, Starkweather reported Odell was damaging her property and refusing to leave the residence in Duncan Township Nov. 28. He then allegedly grabbed her and pushed her over a chair, then choked her on the ground causing injury to her neck and left arm. He then dumped a bag of tobacco in her hair and left.
He was located at a residence on Whitneyville Road in Charleston Township, and taken into custody. He was released on $5,000 bail and his preliminary hearing has been set for Dec. 11.

drunken driving
MANSFIELD - Seven people were charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants recently. According to documents filed at district judge's offices in Mansfield, Wellsboro and Elkland, they were:
Leslie W. Miller, 46, of 107 Old Mill Road, Mainesburg, by borough police after he crashed his car on Sullivan Street Nov. 17. He was released on $5,000 bail, waived his Wednesday preliminary hearing and his county court date was set for Jan. 7.
Billy L. Tuck, 34 of 12816 Route 6, Wellsboro, by Blossburg police, after he drove his car into a yard at 134 Morris St., Aug. 25. He was issued a summons to appear.
Penelope L. Smith, 53, of Hornell, N.Y., by state police following a traffic stop on Route 15, Tioga Township, Oct. 14. She was issued a summons to appear.
Thor J. Anthony, 22, of Morris Run, by borough police following a traffic stop on East Wellsboro Street Nov. 3. He was issued a summons to appear.
Claude W. Davis, of 1400 Orebed Road, Mansfield, by state police following a traffic stop on Route 6 Sept. 28. He was issued a summons to appear.
Richard A. Jenks, 76, of 10 Cole Street, Apt. 510, Wellsboro, by borough police following a traffic stop on East Avenue Nov. 16. He was issued a summons to appear.
Faron M. Brooks, of Corning, N.Y., by Elkland police following a traffic stop in the borough Nov. 16. He was issued a summons to appear.
