HUGHESVILLE - As the holiday season begins, one local restaurant is holding an event to help those less fortunate by holding a concert that will benefit Toys for Tots at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Big Dogz Sport Bar, 5010 Route 220, Hughesville, will host the concert, which is asking all attendees to bring an unwrapped toy or give a monetary donation.
All monetary donations will go towards buying additional toys for local children.
"We just kind of decided on making the bar a spot for Toys for Tots donations. We have been doing quite a bit of charity events lately," said Brooke Gray, organizer.
Gray explained that five bands have agreed to perform in the concert - Lone Wolf Project, Audiobox, True Becoming, Dirty Mojo and Small Town Titans.
She went on to say that the bar wanted to find a way of helping during the holiday season for those who need it and thought a toy drive would work well.

"I don't want to ask for money for (the bar) if we can get it for a good cause," Gray said.
And although she said the holidays aren't all about material things, such as gifts, Gray believes this is an opportunity for the community to brighten a child's holiday.
"All of the kids that are a little less fortunate can have a little nicer Christmas (with the community's help)," Gray said.
Although Toys for Tots is a national foundation, Gray said all toys and donations collected will directly affect those living in the area.
"I just hope we can get a lot of toys and money for the kids because it all stays local," she said.
