Kristin Rooney, owner and CEO of the Williamsport Outlaws Professional Hockey Club issued a statement Friday afternoon following an article in Thursday's edition about a legal dispute between the nonprofit group that operates an ice rink at Bowman Field and the company that provided and installed the equipment.
"The Williamsport Outlaws are in no way part of the current litigation," she said. "The Williamsport Outlaws are simply a third-party beneficiary to the public rink. The Williamsport Outlaws are a tenant of the city of Williamsport and are and have always been current with all our financial obligations with the city of Williamsport."
A motion for a preliminary injunction was filed in by the nonprofit organization Williamsport Ice Arena in Lycoming County court against Rink Specialists, of Naples, Maine.
The motion seeks to block the company from repossessing its equipment.
Both parties are claiming a breach of contract regarding services and equipment provided for the hockey rink at Bowman Field that opened in late October.
