Rachel Shaner Kelleher, 34, of Montoursville, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Gatehouse.
Born Oct. 4, 1978, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Keith L. and Kathryn Balzer Shaner. She and her husband, Matthew K. Kelleher, celebrated nine years of marriage on July 12, 2012.
Rachel was a graduate of Hughesville High School, class of 1996 and received her master's degree in Genetic Counseling from Sarah Lawrence College. Over the past two years, Rachel became very active in Relay for Life and won awards with Team Celebrate Everything. She was a loving mother who enjoyed coaching soccer and being involved with all aspects of her children's life. Rachel also enjoyed hiking, scrapbooking and shopping for her nieces and nephews.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, Connor E. Kelleher; a daughter, Madison A. Kelleher; two brothers, Neil B. (Michele) Shaner of Chambersburg and Adam K. (Danielle) Shaner of Williamsport; four sisters, Sarah K. Shaner of Huntingdon, Brandi M. (Jake) King of Williamsport, Holly N. (fiance Ryan Byers) Shaner of Williamsport and Megan E. Shaner of Hughesville.
Rachel was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bernard and Ann Balzer; and paternal grandparents, Neil and June Shaner.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. Stephen Haupert officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
