Fred R. Ghalib

Fred R. Ghalib, 70, of Williamsport, died on Nov. 30, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center ER.

Fred was born in Williamsport on Oct. 22, 1942, a son of Fred and Madelyn Ghalib.

He was a 1960 graduate of Loyalsock Township High School and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Fred was a self employed antiques dealer, had volunteered at the SPCA and with gardening at Brandon Park. He enjoyed watching football and playing cards.

He and his wife, the former Jean Pettingill celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 1, 2012.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Charles Ghalib of Greenwich, N.Y., Rodney Ghalib of Williamsport; a granddaughter, Lila Jean; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, a brother, four sisters and a nephew preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Dr. J. Morris Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Fred's name may be made to the SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport or the Shepherd of the Streets, 669 Center St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
