Meeting to discuss natural gas power plant near Montgomery

December 4, 2012
From Staff Reports , Williamsport Sun-Gazette

The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public meeting 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Clinton Township Fire Co. to discuss a proposed plan for a 936-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant in the township.

DEP officials will be on hand to explain the application review process and applicable regulations, and company officials will review the project.

A question and answer session will follow.

Moxie Patriot submitted an Air Quality Plan Approval application to DEP Jan. 20, 2012.

The plan would include two power blocks, each of which includes a combustion gas turbine and a steam turbine. Each combined cycle process also will include a heat recovery steam generator and supplemental duct burners and other ancillary sources.

DEP published a notice of intent to issue the plan approval in the "Pennsylvania Bulletin" on Sept. 29 and asked for public comment. A number of area residents requested that the agency hold a public meeting or public hearing to discuss the application.

The public will have an opportunity to present up to five minutes of oral testimony about the application. Written testimony also will be accepted.

Those who wish to present oral testimony may register that evening prior to the hearing.

Anyone unable to attend the public hearing can submit written comment by Monday, Jan. 14, to: DEP Air Quality Program Manager, 208 W. 3rd St., Suite 101, Williamsport, Pa. 17701.

Individuals in need of an accommodation as provided for in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 should contact Daniel Spadoni at 327-3659 or through the Pennsylvania AT&T Relay Service at 1-800-654-5984 (TDD).
