DuBoistown Borough Council Tuesday night approved a $439,057 budget for 2013 that holds the line on real estate taxes.
The spending plan is just $763 higher than this year's budget and keeps the millage rate at 3.93.
Public safety expenses increase from $112,703 to $123,586.
However, many areas of the budget will decrease.
The biggest decrease is general government, buildings and plants, which falls from $45,450 to $27,200.
Council also passed a 2013 sewer budget of $550,086, an increase of $100,000 from this year.
In other action, council agreed not to have the borough plow snow from the new Lance Cpl. Abram Howard Bridge.
Instead, the state Department of Transportation will do the plowing.
Council members concurred the borough does not have the manpower to do the work.
However, the borough will be responsible for plowing up to the bridge entrance on the DuBoistown side.
Council discussed possible construction of a maintenance building on borough property.
It was noted that the borough likely would have to pay the government's prevailing wage for any labor costs.
Council approved the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan for five counties.
The agreement among Lycoming, Columbia, Montour, Union and Snyder counties is to ensure removal of solid waste in the region.
It was announced that the annual appearance of Santa Claus at Candy Cane Lane will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Dec. 21, 22, 23, 24.
