Montgomery board re-elects president

MONTGOMERY - Montgomery Area School District re-elected Adam R. Diggan as school board president Tuesday night during a reorganization meeting of the board.

Diggan, representing Clinton Township, accepted the responsibility after the board took a vote. The board then elected Jody L. Budman, who represents Brady and Washington townships, as its board vice president.

The board appointed Thomas Marshall as district solicitor for the school board directors, at a retainer fee of $150 per month and $110 per hour. It appointed McNerney Page Vanderlin and Hall law firm as assistant district solicitor should Marshall be unable to attend, for the same fees.

The board approved district mileage reimbursement effective Jan. 1 to be 56 cents as per Internal Revenue Service guidelines.

Several athletics appointments were approved including: Joseph Stoudt, golf, $3,010; Samantha Mix, girls soccer, $4,550, Phillip St. James, boys soccer, $4,550, Craig Weaver, girls tennis, $4,725 and voted to advertise for football coach for the next two years.

The Dec. 18 board meeting was cancelled by a vote. The board set the dates and times for next year's board meeting, which begin at 7 p.m. Jan. 15, Feb. 19, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19, Dec. 3 and Dec. 17.

The board met in executive session prior to the meeting to discuss personnel and legal matters.
