Buffalo Valley Singers, Brass to perform Christmas concert

LEWISBURG - The Buffalo Valley Singers and the Buffalo Valley Brass will perform a Christmas concert titled "Love Came Down" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at St. John United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road.

The concert will feature traditional carols and popular Christmas songs as well as "And the Glory of the Lord" from Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's "Heilig" (a double-choir piece in German) and David Eddleman's arrangement of the Hebrew folk song "Hava Nagila." A drawing will be held for a free CD of the concert.

Buffalo Valley Singers is a 90-plus-member community choir from several counties in the Susquehanna Valley area begun in 1973. Connie Pawling-Young is the director, and the piano accompanist is Tim Latsha.

Since 1986 the Buffalo Valley Brass quintet - Judy Blee and David Heberlig on trumpet, John Letteer on tuba, Tom Mecouch on trombone and Karen Mansfield on French horn - have performed an annual Christmas concert with Singers. The Brass play at many community and special events throughout the year, including Mifflinburg's Christkindl and First Night in State College.
