Alice Louise Yerger

Alice Louise (Keller) Yerger, of Linden, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. She celebrated her 80th birthday on Nov. 4 with a number of her friends, neighbors and relatives. She was born Nov. 4, 1932, in the Williamsport Hospital, a daughter of Harris and Naomi R. (Bean) Keller.

On Feb. 13, 1952, at the DuBoistown Methodist Church, she was married to Louis M. Yerger Jr. who preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2001.

Alice Louise attended the one room red brick school house in the village of Linden and graduated from the Williamsport Area High School, class of 1951. She was employed by Household Finance, L. L. Stearns and Town & Country Department store. She also worked as the Lycoming County Occupation Assessor for Woodward Township, Linden, for 18 years, and served on the Woodward Township election board.

Alice Louise was a charter member of Faith Christian Church, Lycoming Creek Road, a member of United Commercial Travelers No. 350, Williamsport, Pa. At the Salladasburg Senior Citizens chapter of Lycoming County Senior Citizens, she served as their Treasure, News Editor and Social Event Decorator.

Alice Louise enjoyed doing crafts, many of her decorations for banquets and social events will be remembered by many. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, painting area buildings of the Woodward Township area, and adored her feline companions. Her greatest task was designing and building a nine room county style (40" by 28") doll house and many of its 1" scale accessories.

Surviving are her son and daughter, Louis M. Yerger III of Linden and Lynda Louise (Wool-Smith) Yerger of South Williamsport; three grandchildren, Molly Jean (Yerger) Durland of Dushore, Kimberly Jean (Wool-Kriner) Stafford of South Williamsport and Eugene J. Wool of Montoursville; five great-grandchildren, Taylor Rae Durland, Kelsie and Kylie Kriner, Elaine Stafford and Hailey Etta Wool.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Alice Louise was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Keller, 1924, Albert William Keller, 2010, and a sister, Helen N. Stuller, 2008. Surviving is her sister, Ruth L. (LaRue) Pepperman of Williamsport and her brother, Frank H. (Arlene) Keller of Montoursville and a dear friend, Michelle Belton of Linden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alice's name may be made to the Appalachian Horse Help & Rescue (A.H.H.R.) 1201 Yerger Road, Linden, PA 17744.

Private funeral services will be held at Knight-Confer Funeral Home at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Ron Savits officiating. Interment will be held at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
