The street value of the heroin seized earlier this week by Old Lycoming Township Sgt. Detective Christopher Kriner was in excess of $100,000, according to Lycoming County District Attorney Eric R. Linhardt.
The more than 1/4-pound of heroin seized Monday afternoon was valued at $114,100, Linhardt said Thursday.
"It is one of the largest seizures of heroin from a single vehicle stop in the county. It was an enormous amount of heroin," Linhardt said.
The heroin was in the passenger section and trunk of a Chrysler 300 that Kriner, also a member of the county's Drug Task Force, stopped on Interstate 180 near Maynard Street in the city, about 2:20 p.m.
Also in the vehicle was an estimated $3,000 worth of cocaine.
Taken into custody that afternoon was passenger David Emanuel Collins Jr., 23, of Philadelphia, who was wanted on assault charges in Philadelphia. The vehicle was impounded and searched on Tuesday after Kriner obtained a search warrant.
In addition to the drugs, two loaded, stolen handguns also were found in the vehicle, Kriner said.
Collins was taken from the prison Tuesday night and arraigned on numerous drug and firearm charges. He was recommitted in lieu of $750,000 bail.
The driver, Timothy D. Eiland, 23, and a second passenger, Durward Anthony Allen, 21, both of Philadelphia, were released Monday. However, Kriner on Thursday morning filed arrest warrants for the two, charging them with felony drug and firearm offenses. They remained at large.
