A number of Williamsport Area High School students were selected to participate in the Lycoming County Band Director's Association Honor Band Festival on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30 at Loyalsock Township High School.
Student Caitlin Chappell was awarded the $500 Samuel F. Arnone Memorial Scholarship through a competitive audition and essay contest. Chappell performed the "Telemann Suite in A Minor" and wrote her essay about the leadership traits she has learned while playing in the band.
Students who performed during the event were: Caitlin Chappell, Flute I; Olivia Angevine, Oboe I and Soloist; Stephanie Michaud, Flute II; Kyle Clayton, Clarinet II; Nick Pompeo, Tenor Sax; Eliza Whyman, Cornet II; Eric Stopper, Cornet I and Soloist; Josh Gilbert, French Horn I; Annie Byham, French Horn I; Theoron Hershey, French Horn IV; Kaley Brinkerhoff, Trombone III; Allyssa Souter, Trombone II; Olivia Penrod, Baritone; Stephen Enderle, Trumpet I; and Melaina Chapman, Cornet III.
