A Pennsylvania College of Technology student has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from The Davey Tree Expert Co.
Garrett A. Krout, of McClure, in his second year toward an associate degree in forest technology, was presented with the Davey Arbor Grant Scholarship at the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center by company representative Steve Nagy.
"We are thrilled to be able to award this scholarship and continue to bolster our support and solidify our relationship with Penn College," said Nagy, a recruiter and trainer at Davey and an International Society of Arboriculture Board-Certified Master Arborist. "We are always eager to support a program that produces quality students, as well as encourages an interest in urban forestry."

"In my two years at Penn College, I've been fortunate to work with faculty who care and taught me in an environment that allowed me to excel academically," Krout said. "I'm honored to be recognized."
The Davey Foundation Arbor Grant Scholarship program supports students enrolled in green industry studies, including arboriculture, horticulture, landscape and forestry.
Each year, the Davey Tree Expert Co. awards about 30 scholarships through the grant program.
Selection criteria include a GPA of 2.5 or higher, recommendations from instructors, and a letter of intent indicating future plans and financial need.
