Mild weather on tap this week
It's not looking a lot like Christmas in central Pennsylvania.
There's no snow on the ground, and mild temperatures will be the rule this week.
Today will seem more like spring with temperatures nearing 60 degrees and even the possibility of a thunderstorm, according to the National Weather Service.
The chance of rain is 100 percent with 1/4- to 1/2-inch of rain possible.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low of 34.
Most the rest of the week is expected to be rain-free, although with a bit cooler temperatures.
The frigid winter air will be felt mostly at night.
"We're south of a front that is kind of waggling over upstate New York," explained National Weather Service forecaster Greg DeVoir. "The cold air is north of there. We've got storm systems riding over the top of us."
DeVoir said today's rainfall will bring some relief to the mostly dry conditions of late.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly to mostly sunny with highs both days reaching 42.
There is a chance of some flurries Tuesday night.
Otherwise, the forecast calls for no snow right through the weekend.
Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 40s.
Night-time lows through the period will be in the 20s.
Saturday and Sunday will bring a chance of showers with highs in the mid 40s.
