Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to Eldred Township in a sleigh atop a 1951 Chevrolet fire truck on Christmas Eve.
Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Co. already has decorated with Christmas lights the first truck it ever purchased.
Starting around 6 p.m., the annual one-vehicle parade will begin, with speakers playing "Here Comes Santa Claus" as it weaves through the township.
Elves will distribute candy canes as part of the festivities.
The parade started 10 years ago as a joke, said Jacob E. Winter, second assistant chief.
"It was just an idea we got, sitting around the fire hall," he said.
The joke was to put Christmas lights on the old truck. They tried it and, with hundreds of people attending the event, it became an annual occurrence.
"Everyone comes to expect it," Winter said. "(We have) people driving in from all over to see it."
Between 6:05 to 6:15 p.m., the parade will begin on Lundy Lane.
From 6:25 to 6:45 p.m., it is expected to be in the Pleasant Hills Road area and Pinecrest Trailer Court.
The parade will be in the Route 973 East area from 6:55 to 7:10 p.m. That will include Caraway Drive, Pheasant Lane and Dunkard Church Road.
Between 7:40 to 8:10 p.m., the parade will continue through the Game Farm area, including Fink Hill Drive, Fink Drive, Fink Drive Extension, Yeagle Road and Hoffman Road.
From 8:20 to 9 p.m., it is expected to be in the Wallis Run Road area, including Harvey, Henry and Weitzel drives and Baxter Road.
The parade will be in the Loyalsockville area from 9:10 to 9:30 p.m. That will include Kuhns Road and Upper Trailer Court on Back Street.
It will end in the Warrensville area between 9:40 and 9:50 p.m. as the parade makes its way on Warrensville Road through Warrensville and back alleys.
