Authorities closed the westbound lane of Interstate 180 for about two hours Thursday morning, following two separate wrecks that took place less than two blocks from each other and less than half an hour apart.
State police have yet to issue any information regarding the crashes, including number of victims or number of vehicles involved.
The first crash occurred at about 8 a.m. in the 2400 block of the highway. At least one person suffered injuries.
At about 8:15 a.m., the state Department of Transportation alerted motorists that the westbound lane of the highway would be closed between the Third Street and Faxon exits in Loyalsock Township.
The second crash took place about 15 minutes later, at about 8:30 a.m., in the 2300 block of the highway.
As a result, the department began detouring westbound traffic off the Third Street exit.
Both lanes of the highway were opened to traffic at about 10 a.m.
State police and PennDOT were assisted at both scenes by the Loyalsock Township Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance services.
