Williamsport Symphony Orchestra announces masquerade ball fundraiser

December 14, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

The Williamsport Symphony Orchestra is shaking things up this year by presenting an entirely new fundraiser, "Masquerade 2013," which will be held Feb. 23 at the Capitol Lounge of the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St. The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. and will be open to the public.

This mid-winter evening will feature masks, music and merriment, with all proceeds going to support the WSO's music and education programs. The event also will include a dinner catered by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Le Jeune Chef, a silent auction, complimentary beverages and musical entertainment.

WSO volunteer Linda Lundy said that the organization thought a masquerade ball would "add a bit of sparkle and fun to mid-winter."

"At this point, we wanted to shake it up a little," she said. "The 'Dancing Under the Summer Stars' event had gone on for four years and it was great, but we thought we'd do something a little different."

Lundy has helped to organize fundraisers for the symphony for several years and got involved because she loves the concerts.

"I thoroughly enjoy going to the symphony," she said. "It's a wonderful experience. We're very fortunate to have an orchestra of this quality."
