Is Rep Garth Everett serious? Brett Feese was convicted on 40 counts including theft, conflict of interest and conspiracy related to the Computergate scheme which diverted $10 million dollars of public funds to abet election campaigns. What could Rep. Everett possibly be thinking? We have individuals and families in our communities who are struggling with significant financial hardships and can barely keep a roof over their heads or food on their table, yet, Rep. Everett wants fellow lawmakers to donate to a convicted thief who was elected to serve the public good and swore an oath of fidelity.
Perhaps Rep. Everett should be more concerned about his constituents and state agencies and organizations that have been impacted by budget cuts that may not have been as significant if $10 million in public funds had not been diverted by Mr. Feese and his co-conspirators. In keeping with the spirit of the season, let us give to those truly in need of our compassion and generosity.
