William E. Creveling

William E. Creveling, 90, of South Williamsport, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.

Born March 4, 1922, in Bloomsburg, he was the son of the late Hurley and Cecilia Stopper Creveling.

William was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret E. Snyder Creveling, on May 2, 2012.

William graduated from Bloomsburg High School where he was PA Gymnastics Champion in 1939 and 1940.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater in the 27th Tank Battalion. William retired from Conrail after 42 years of employment. He attended South Williamsport United Methodist Church and was a member of AARP, Detrick Lamade Lodge No. 755, Williamsport Consistory, Wilkes-Barre Shriners and T.P.A. He enjoyed bird watching, boating, golfing, spending time with his family and wintering in Panama City Beach, Fla. for 25 years.

Surviving are his daughters, Ann L. (Time) Weston of South Williamsport and Kay C. (Ralph) Rodgers of Leesburg, Ga.; two brothers, Richard (Kay) Creveling of Williamsport and Robert (Kathleen) Creveling of South Williamsport; grandchildren, Eric (Kelli) and Whitney Weston and a sister-in-law, Lillian Creveling of N.C.

He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Sid Mapes and a brother, Jack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m., at the Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with Rev. David W. Bechtel officiating. A visitation will be held Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St.

A private graveside service will be held in Wildwood Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.

Memorial contributions may be made to : South Williamsport Methodist Church, 409 Main St., South Williamsport, PA 17702; St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 711 Edwin St., Williamsport, PA 17701; or to the charity of one's choice.
