At the Sun-Gazette, we often receive product samples and press releases from companies promoting their new and unusual items. We thought we'd tell you about some of these new products in the hopes that one of these "odds and ends" will be right for you or someone you know.
PoniLox and PoniClip
Had it with bad hair days? Looking for an easy solution that will give you the perfect style for any occasion? The PoniLox combines a hair comb with a clip.

All you need to do is pull your hair into a pony tail, twist it, then slide the comb end of the PoniLox into the base of the pony tail. Clip the PoniLox so that it fits snugly against your scalp and your hair is now out of your face and twisted into an attractive style.
The website www.ponilox.com has many instructional videos for how to wear the PoniLox and PoniClip.
Our two testers both had thin hair, so they both had some difficulty getting the PoniLox and PoniClip to work properly. After playing around with different hair styles, one tester was able to get her hair to stay in place, but this product probably works better on those who have medium- to long-length hair and thickness.
Cool-it Caddy
The Cool-it Caddy is marketed as a classic makeup bag with a twist.
The bags come in four styles - Classic, For men, Contempo and Icepops - and are sold online and at retail locations across the country, as well as private golf clubs and resorts.
The bag is easy to use, just pop it in the freezer overnight or until frozen, fill with your items.
The classic style is 7 1/2-by-5 1/2-by-2 1/2-inches, so it's small enough to slip inside a purse, golf bag or beach bag. The classic style retails for $29.95 and comes in pink, zebra stripes, black woven and red colors and patterns. The Icepops style retails for $24.95 and comes in colorful "pops" of color, like raspberry, lemon and orange. The Contempo style has a removable wrist strap and is $35.95.
This item is especially handy for those who need medications, like insulin, kept cool and out of direct sunlight while traveling or at sporting events. The Cool-it Caddy easily held medications, lip balms and toddler snacks cool for several hours during a recent shopping trip.
It definitely is easier - and lighter - to carry around than a bulky insulated lunch bag with several heavy ice packs since it can slip inside another bag or large purse.

Sleevie Savers
Sleevie Savers are a product created by two local mothers, Katie Bell and Lauren Bryson (for more about the product, see Page E-1). Sleevie Savers protect young children's sleeves from foods, stains, liquids, stretched sleeves and more by slipping over the child's arm and then attaching at the top with Velcro. The product comes in several colors - Fire Engine Red, Grass Green, Purple Orchid, Royal Blue and Pink Raspberry.
The sleeves are made in the USA with materials from America and are intended to complement existing bibs. They repel water, are sink washable, quick drying, flexible and breathable. The sleeves also are BPA free and free of lead, phthalates and polyvinyl chloride.
The Sleevie Savers were used on an 18-month-old who is a messy self-feeder. They easily slipped over her lightweight sweater and were not too tight around her wrists. Because of her size, they came up half-way between her elbow and shoulder, providing ample coverage for the elbow drops that she often does into her applesauce container. And, unlike bibs, she couldn't just lightly tug on the sleeves to remove them.
This product also can be used for older children during art projects because it is one size fits most. The Sleevie Savers wiped clean with a washcloth and dried quickly before the next meal.
Sleevie Savers are available at Gustonian Gifts and GG2 in downtown Williamsport and online at www.sleeviesavers.com. Locally they are $10.99 a pair and online they are $9.99 a pair, which does not include shipping.
