An Open Letter of Appreciation to the Community:
Words can't express the sense of gratitude I feel when I think about the way in which this community has embraced the Uptown Music Collective. From the very public generosity of the Sun-Gazette editorial and Fred Gilmour and the Williamsport-Lycoming Community Foundation's surprise $5,000 gift, to the community's more private response in quickly matching our recent grant from the National Endowment for the Arts last month. We are humbled and appreciative.
Hardly a week goes by when a local business or individual doesn't do something beautiful for us and punctuate it with words like "anything for the kids". It's hard to believe how far we've come in twelve years, from that little "hippie" music school on Market Street with three rooms and twenty students, to today's facilities, bursting at the seams with 140 students. We were lucky to have chosen the rich fertile soil of this community in which to plant the seeds of our organization.
Thank You to all you who publicly and privately support the Uptown Music Collective. We couldn't do it as well without you. We love and are 100% dedicated to what we do and through your support will continue to grow and improve our programs and services to live up to, and to surpass your expectations.
