Elizabeth C. Spega, 87, of 6585 Daugherty's Run Road, Linden, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at The Gatehouse Hospice following a brief illness.
Elizabeth and her husband, Stephen Spega Jr., celebrated their 61st anniversary on June 23.
Elizabeth was a 1943 graduate of Williamsport High School, a 1945 graduate of Dickinson Junior College and a 1947 graduate of Bucknell University. She had taught at Danville Senior High School from 1947 to 1953, was a proofreader for the Sun-Gazette before becoming a homemaker and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was of the Episcopal faith.
Born Aug. 20, 1925, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Eleanor C. Horn Corson.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Stephen III (Susan) of Linden; a daughter, Ann E. Spega of Pennsdale; a sister, Margaret Lamek of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandsons, Kevin, Joshua and Daniel Spega and two great-granddaughters.
Elizabeth was predeceased by siblings, PFC Charles E. Corson Jr., USMC, killed on Okinawa during World War II, George Corson and Mary C. Bowen.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave., with The Rev. Dr. Andrew M. France Jr. officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
