Roundup: Millionaire boys survive Pottsville scare

Williamsport's Thomas Ross scored 14 points and the Millionaires overcame a sluggish start to defeat Pottsville, 45-37, on the road on Tuesday night. Jahad Thomas and Isaiah Washington each added 11 points for the Millionaires (6-0).

St. John Neumann's Tyree Vidal scored 21 points and Richard Allen added 19 as the Knights defeated Benton, 67-30.

Muncy's Ammar Sabanovic and Nick Ring posted double-doubles and the Indians prepped for a Friday showdown against Sullivan County with a 72-49 win over rival Montgomery. Sabanovic had 10 points and 15 assists, while Ring scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Travis Conrad scored 17 points and Lewisburg held Hughesville to 15 points in each half during a 54-30 victory over the Spartans.

Southern Columbia turned a one-point halftime lead into a 13-point advantage entering the fourth quarter and defeated Warrior Run, 79-65. Colin Foresman had 22 points for the Defenders.

Montoursville stumbled to just four first-quarter points, but rallied through the next three quarters to pick up a, 44-40, win over Mt. Carmel. Pierce Ranck helped the Warriors get their first win of the season with a game-high 26 points.

Behind double-doubles from Kyle Datres and Roger Wilson, Loyalsock took down Central Columbia, 63-39. Datres scored 10 points while dishing out 10 assists and Wilson scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Chad Diggan scored 24 points and Mike Jacobs added 19 as Milton defeated Jersey Shore, 67-63. Eric Huling scored a team-high 17 points for Jersey Shore while Tyler Fulkrod scored 15 in the loss.

In girls basketball, Molly Wood scored 8 points with 16 rebounds and 7 steals, but Mansfield came up short, 50-48 vs. Wyalusing.

Behind Christin Dunkling's 27 points, Athens cruised past North Penn, 57-37. Monica Daugherty added 11 points for the Wildcats while Kaitlyn Gaverick scored 15 to lead North Penn.

In wrestling, Loyalsock defeated Williamsport, 60-18, in a match that featured seven forfeits, six falls and one no match. The Lancers recorded five consecutive falls from 145-182.

Sullivan County received pins by Dylan Ammerman (145) and Tanner McCarty (182), but the Griffins dropped a dual meet to Troy, 56-21.

Benton defeated Muncy, 42-37. Zane Rutherford and Colt Cotton both scored pins for Benton while Troy Hembury started the match off with a major decision win for Muncy.

Jersey Shore defeated Mifflinburg, 42-31. The Bulldogs had six pins in the win.

In girls swimming, Kristina Reis won the 100 butterfly and opened for two relay teams as Williamsport defeated Mount Carmel, 87-55. Pamela Niditch won both the 100 and 200 freestyles for Williamsport.

In boys swimming, Shaun Smith helped in two relays and took home to honors in the 200 IM and 100 Free to help Williamsport win, 80-15, over Mt. Carmel.

In women's basketball, Andrea Veres scored a team-high 12 points as East Stroudsburg defeated Lock Haven, 59-56. Emily Daugherty scored 12 to lead Lock Haven in the loss.

Four players scored in double-figures for California (Pa.) as the Vulcans defeated Mansfield, 96-49. Elena Antonenko scored a game-high 16 points while Katie Fitzpatrick led Mansfield with nine points.

In men's basketball, Joe Bell and Chuck Harper each scored 20 points as Mansfield defeated Cal (Pa.), 78-75. Mansfield entered halftime down 12 points, but scored 43 fourth-quarter points to complete the comeback.

Kasheef Festus scored 20 points and Wali Hepburn added 14 as Lock Haven won at defending PSAC?champ East Stroudsburg, 68-58. Duane Johnson scored 11 points to lead East Stroudsburg in scoring.
