William Kline, 69, died peacefully and gracefully at the Gatehouse with his wife, Ann, and a close personal friend at his sides on Nov. 28, 2012. He battled an extremely rare cancer for several years and was blessed with relatively few side effects thanks to the very professional care of his medical doctors and staff at both Susquehanna Hematology/ Oncology and Hershey Medical Center.
Bill lived a rich and interesting journey in life when he met the love of his life, Ann, seated next to her during their business trips on United Airlines, for whom he worked for many years. They even had their automobile license plate with their United Airlines seat numbers. He later finished his career with IBM, continuing to travel well over 100,000 miles each year. All the perks of travel enabled the couple to visit many exotic places such as five times each to both Bali, Indonesia and Australia. The also adventured to Scandinavia, Russia, Morocco, Hong Kong, Thailand, Fiji, Malaysia, Japan and other places.
An Illinois native, Bill was preceded in death by his parents and later by his in-laws, Dr. and Mrs. Robert G. Stevens, M.D., of Williamsport, He is survived by his loving wife; his aunt and uncle in Arizona; and his brother-in-law, Robert.
He is also survived by his three married children in other states by a previous marriage.
Bill and his wife have many close personal friends, both locally and nationally, who unselfishly visited them frequently. They enjoyed entertaining and cooking and Bill found that he loved living in beautiful Pennsylvania and actually wished they moved here earlier in life. As long as there is an airport, they were able to live anywhere they chose. Luckily, they moved here until the end of his life.
A private celebration of his life will occur later. Donations may be made to the Susquehanna Hematology/Oncology Department, c/o Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Crouse Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
