A registered sex offender living in the area faces felony charges after allegedly falsifying information to officers regarding his living situation.
Brett Daniel Shoemaker, 36, whose last known address was 852 Upper Powys Road, Cogan Station, faces four felony counts of failure to comply with sex offender requirements.
Shoemaker, who is a lifetime registered sex offender, is required to provide authorities with monthly updates regarding a slew of information including his current address and employer.
He first registered with state police at the Montoursville barracks on Aug. 31.
At that time, Shoemaker said he was homeless and unemployed but had come to the area hoping to find work at a Cogan Station business.
On Sept. 30, Shoemaker again told officers he was homeless but had obtained work in the area.
On the same day, Shoemaker was pulled over by police for a traffic violation and provided a home address of 1825 Bloomingrove Road.
On Oct. 31, Shoemaker reported he still was without a home.
On Nov. 7, he was arrested for DUI. During his arraignment before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley, he stated he had been living at 852 Upper Powys Road, Cogan Station, for the last three months.
Based on this information, police believe Shoemaker falsified his address on at least two occasions and failed to notify police when he changed addresses.
Shoemaker was arraigned before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on Nov. 13. He was committed to the county prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
