Announcement has been made of the engagement of Andrea Laird, Cogan Station, and Jesse Velarde, Stockertown.
An April 6 wedding at Faith Wesleyan Church is being planned.
Laird is the daughter of Rebecca and Timothy Laird, Cogan Station. She graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 2003 and received a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from Houghton College, Houghton, N.Y., in 2007.

Velarde is the son of Jeanne Bapov and Orlando Velarde, both of Atlanta, Ga. He graduated from Pebblebrook High School, Mableton, Ga., in 1994 and received a bachelor's degree in political science from Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Ga., in 2005.
