George L. Hessert Jr., 83, of Pennsdale, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born April 1, 1929, in DuBoistown, he was the son of the late George Hessert Sr. and Elizabeth Denius.
George was a graduate of South Williamsport High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Masonic Lodge 106. He enjoyed fast pitch softball, which he was the first to pitch a no hitter in Williamsport.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Roberta A. Fediow Hessert; two daughters, Judith A. (James) Stubanas of Raleigh, N.C. and Marciann M. Hessert (Henry Holcomb) of Montoursville; son, Peter G. (Ruth) Hessert of Dillsburg; brother, Richard (Lesley) Hessert of New Jersey; five grandchildren; and beloved dog, J.J.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Hessert.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. Burial will be held at Montoursville Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday at Sanders Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
