Mary Elizabeth Whispell-Murray, 69, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Dec. 11, 2012, at the Nathan Adelson Hospice, Las Vegas, Nev., with long time friends Madelyn and Rosie at her side.
She was born Nov. 7, 1943, and raised in Williamsport, the daughter of Raymond and Sara (Bosch) Whispell. She married her husband, Thomas E. Murray Jr. on Oct. 10, 1983, at the Pine Street Methodist Church; he died Dec. 16, 2010.
She was a 1961 graduate of Williamsport High School, attended Penn State University and University of Nevada, Las Vegas; worked many years as a secretary and office manager in Williamsport and was self-employed as an interior designer in Las Vegas.
Mary loved to travel, play golf, make jewelry and spend time with friends.
She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Las Vegas.
Surviving are several cousins, including William Lambert (Christine) of Falls, Pa., Robert Lambert, Scranton, Pa., and Beth Ann Goss, Clearfield, Pa.
Arrangements for burial are with McDermott Funeral Home, Las Vegas, Nev.
A private memorial service will be celebrated at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, she would have appreciated memorial contributions be made to any Vietnam Veterans Charity.
