The real culprit

December 31, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Who, besides Adam Lanza, was responsible for the carnage inflicted upon the students and staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School? Was it Congress and the Connecticut Legislators who enacted firearm restrictions in public schools that allowed a predator to murder 20 children and 6 staff members in a gun free environment. What made Adam choose the school and not the local police station, court house, or a federal building for his killing spree? Was it after murdering his mother, he decided the safest alternative would be to take her car and guns, drive to a school where firearms were restricted, break in and commence shooting realizing he would never be impeded until police arrived.

What if the first defenders, staff and teachers at Sandy Hook, were allowed to carry as in Utah? Maybe they could have defended themselves and their students and prevented some or all of the killings until police arrived, since Utah's school officials are prohibited from enforcing "any" rules pertaining to firearms.

Why do anti-gun politicians and the media call this mass killing the second highest, while erroneously blaming it on the semi-automatic rifle owned by millions of law-abiding gun owners? Have they forgotten Waco where 76 federal agents invaded the Branch Davidians ranch in 1993 and killed six. Fifty-one days later military tanks inserted CS gas into their buildings, a fire ensued, "twenty-four children" plus 52 men and women were cremated over an "alleged" firearm violation.

Which would the founders consider the most dangerous to a free society? Psychopaths committing a few heinous mass shootings, or government agents acting in a dictatorial manner as judge, jury, and executioner? H.L. Menchen quoted, "The only good Bureaucrat is one with a gun to his head. Put it in his hand and it's good by to the Bill of Rights."
