City fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that broke out late Friday afternoon in a second-floor classroom at Williamsport Area High School.
"Responding to a fire alarm, a member of the maintenance department discovered the fire about 4:45 p.m.," said Greg L. Hayes, the district's director of public relations.
"The fire department responded and quickly extinguished the flames. The damage was contained to a small area of cabinetry along a classroom wall. Minor damage from a broken water pipe also occurred in two rooms directly below the site of the fire," Hayes said.
There were no injuries.
"Clean-up work is taking place through the holiday break. Classes will resume as scheduled on Jan. 2," Hayes said.
