John C. Bower Sr.

John C. Bower Sr., 80, of Loyalsock Township, passed away Dec. 21, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Rose Valley, the son of Lawrence S. and Pearl A. Heim Bower.

John owned and operated Bower Farm in Loyalsock Township, Triple J Transportation, and sold seed corn for Funk's. He was a member of Pennsylvania Farmers Association, co-founder of Loyalsock Valley Antique Machinery Association and was treasurer for several years. He enjoyed farm sales and his International Tractors.

He was preceded in death by is his sister, Eleanor Kepner.

John is survived by his wife, the former Jo-Anne M. Skeebey with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage; one son, John C. (Laura) Bower of Loyalsock; one daughter, Denise S. (Joe) Millard of Toms River, N.J.; three sisters, Helen Ulmer of Trout Run, Pa., Aletha (Donald) Wright of Allenwood, Pa., and Ruth Monse of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Michelle (Vincent) Conti, Tess (Jared) Gist and Joseph Millard.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Larry K. Waltz officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
