Carl W. Ertel

Carl W. Ertel, 86, of Williamsport, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Williamsport Home.

Born May 8, 1926, in South Williamsport, he was a son of the late Herman and Edna Ertel. Carl married Kathryn L. Ameigh on Oct. 27, 1954, and spent 58 wonderful years together.

Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge. Carl worked as a pipe fitter for the former Bethlehem Steel for 33 years and retired from there in 1984. Carl loved to travel and collected coins.

In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by a son, Mark A.(Lydia) Ertel of Williamsport; two daughters, Nadine E. Ertel of Cape Coral, Fla., and Arlene (Fritz) Hostrop of Tokyo, Japan; a sister, Mabel Gross of South Williamsport; and five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1971 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
