Three Lycoming County Prison inmates face assault-related charges for allegedly attacking and beating up a fourth inmate at the jail at 277 W. Third St., according to county Det. A.E. Diaz Sr.
Benjamin Villanueva III, 21, of 3 E. Mountain Ave., South Williamsport, along with Dondre Terrell McMillian, 19, of 1063 Park Ave., and Hyson Edward Fredericks, 35, of 338 High St., are alleged to have repeatedly kicked and punched inmate Carlos Acosta in a common walkway at the jail on the afternoon of Nov. 19, Diaz said.
It is believed that the assault lasted at least five minutes, Diaz said. It was unknown what provoked the assault and information on why the four men are incarcerated was not available Tuesday night.
Acosta was treated at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center and returned to the prison.
Villanueva, McMillan, and Fredericks were arraigned earlier this month before District Judge Allen P. Page III on charges of aggravated assault, assault by prisoner, simple assault, conspiracy and harassment. All three were recommitted in lieu of an additional $35,000 bail each.
