A former treasurer for the Loyalsock Valley Elementary Parent-Teacher Association has been charged with theft for allegedly stealing money from the PTA, according to state police.
Michelle Renee Wheeland, 32, of 170 Pinecrest Drive., illegally wrote $304 worth of PTA checks to herself between February and May 2011, police said. The school is at 3790 Route 87 in Upper Fairfield Township.
Following her recent arraignment before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, Wheeland was free on $2,500 bail. She has since waived her preliminary hearing.
