Criminal charges have been filed against a Jersey Shore man who has admitted to stealing jewelry and checks that he cashed in order to get money to support his addiction to prescription drugs, according to Old Lycoming Township police.
Christopher Lawrence Nelson, 24, of 127 Locust St., faces charges of felony forgery, theft by deception and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing two checks and and two rings from Brenda Shade's home on Boyles Drive in Hepburn Township on Nov. 19, police said. Shade and Nelson are related, police said.
Nelson forged and cashed the checks for the amounts of $500 and $700, police said. Taken into custody in Williamsport on a parole violation on Nov. 25, Nelson was arraigned earlier this month before District Judge James H. Sortman and recommitted in lieu of $30,000 bail.
