Carl B. Belles, 90, of 405 Pearson Ave., Loyalsock Township, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Rose View Center.
He was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Williamsport, a son of Walter R. and Jenney Zerby Belles.
Carl was a World War II Army Veteran, was the owner/operator of Belles Machine Shop and retired from Woolrich Mills. He was a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104-Montoursville, Bower-Deckert American Legion Post 251-Montgomery, Young Men's Democratic Club, Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association, where he was a past recording secretary and he was also associated with many fireman's associations. Carl was the son of the Founding Member and Chief of the Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, Walter Belles. Carl was a member of the Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 since February 1942, was past Chief (1965 to 1971) and a life time member.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lois Hofer and his daughter, Jeanne Marie Belles.
Carl is survived by two sisters, Catherine Goertz and her sons, Gary and John and Mary Ellen Shoemaker and her sons, Mark and Walter.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin officiating. Interment will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Company, 715 Northway Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
