Mixed chemicals cause of fire at high school

December 27, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

Last Friday's fire in a science lab classroom at the Williamsport Area High School apparently was caused by a reaction brought about by the mixing of some chemicals, according to city Fire Chief C. Dean Heinbach.

The fire, at 2990 W. Fourth St., caused an estimated $25,000 damage, Heinbach said. No one was in the classroom at the time of the 4:45 p.m. fire, which triggered an alarm, alerting custodial staff.
