Barbara Jean Schick

Barbara Jean Schick, 78, of Clarkesville, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Miss Schick was born on Aug. 4, 1934, in Williamsport, Pa., the daughter of the late Earl W. and Anna Maurer Schick. Miss Schick served in the medical profession with several facilities. She was a medical technology instructor at North Georgia Technical College and the chief technologist at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Miss Schick also worked at Habersham Medical Center and Ethicon. She was a member of the Georgia Society of Medical Technologists, having served as a president. Miss Schick was on the Circle of Hope Board and an active member of the Habersham County Humane Society. She was a true advocate for humane treatment of animals. Miss Schick was a member of Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church.

She was a graduate of Williamsport High School, class of 1952, and Lycoming College, class of 1957.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Pat Schick, Lee Summit, Mo.; cousin, Elizabeth Remsnyder, Mifflinburg, Pa.; and a host of friends, and of course, her many four-legged friends that she loved dearly.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church, with Rev. Dena S. Bearl officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5621, Athens, GA 30604-5621 or a humane society of one's choice.
