Harriet Dawes LaForce, 98, widow of Rev. Thomas M. LaForce, of Jersey Shore, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at ManorCare, Jersey Shore, Pa.
Born on Oct. 6, 1914, at Trout Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jesse (Packard) Dawes.
She was a 1931 graduate of Canton High School and attended Dickenson Seminary (now Lycoming College).
Harriet was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore, and was the proprietor of "Ceramics by LaForce" in Charlton, Pa., from 1968-1982.
She enjoyed crocheting and was a Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan.
Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Helen Jonas.
Harriet is survived by a son, Russell D. LaForce (Doris) of Newport, Pa.; a daughter, Kathleen D. Miller (Joseph) of Jersey Shore; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m., in Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, Pa., with her pastor, Rev. Helen Learn officiating. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Trout Run Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made in Harriet's memory to the Newelltown United Methodist Church, 203 Wooster Road, Roaring Branch, PA 17765.
