David G. Love, 60, of Old Lycoming Township, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 13, 1952, in Williamsport, the son of Francis and Eleanor Love. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School where he was a three sport letterman and received his B.S. degree in health and physical education from Lock Haven University.
He and his wife Eylene (Sawyer) were married for 37 years.
For over 32 years, he taught driving, physical and health education in the Williamsport Area School District. Dave coached football at the high school for over 20 years, as well as track and wrestling. He also coached softball while his daughters played.
He loved spending time with family and being "Boppy" to grandsons Jason and Brian.
Dave was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and family time at the cabin he built. He was an avid nonfiction reader, knowledgeable historian and self taught handyman and mechanic.
Besides his wife, Eylene, his is survived by his mother, Eleanor Love of Williamsport; three daughters, Erica Love-Borzok (Tony) of Pittsburgh, Melissa Love-Ritchey (Shawn) and Alesha Love-LaForme (Adam), all of Williamsport; and two grandsons, Jason and Brian Love-Ritchey.
Dave's Celebration of Life will begin with a visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Maneval Funeral Home, "a Life Celebration Home," 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, where services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jay E. Jones officiating. Interment will be private. A scholarship fund for a deserving college bound football lineman is being established in Coach "Pooh's" name and contributions may be sent to the Williamsport School District Education Fund, c/o Greg Hayes, Executive Director, 2780 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
