Loyalsock Township supervisors officially passed the 2013 property tax reduction at Tuesday night's meeting.
Property taxes will be lowered in 2013 from 1.4 mills to 0.7 mills.
In other business, a zoning variance submitted by Jin Xing Yang to add 20 rooms to the Comfort Inn, 1959 E. Third St., was approved in December.
Building inspector Dave Carson reported that 14 zoning permits were issued in December.
"You can almost follow the national economy by the number of permits issued," said township Manager Bill Burdett. "We've almost come full circle from the belly of the recession that's people spending money, that's investment from the people of Loyalsock Township."
"We've been very, very busy commercial-wise," Carson said. "We're waiting for the residential piece to come back."
Director of Parks and Recreation Shannon Lukowsky reported that in order to get in line with prices at other local pools, 2013 daily admission fees at the Loyalsock Township Community Swimming Pool will be raised to $5 for ages 6 and up and $4 for ages 1 to 5.
The price of an annual pass will remain the same, Lukowsky said.
Bids will open on Feb. 1 for a new waterslide at the pool, as well as a roof for the main building there.
Supervisor Jeff Rauff asked Lukowsky about the possibility of creating a dog park in the township.
"That's something we've talked about," Lukowsky said. "We'll continue to look into that."
The Loyalsock Children's Theater will make its second appearance on Jan. 27 at the Community Theater League at 5 p.m., with a presentation of "Beauty and the Beast."
Admission for the performance is free for township residents who can call the township building to sign up, Lukowsky said.
The supervisors next meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the township building, 2501 E. Third St. A public meeting regarding potential sewer regionalization with the Williamsport Sanitary Authority will be held at 6:30 p.m. on that date.
