Local roundup: Loyalsock girls beat Hughesville

Kendall Watkins scored a game-high 13 points while Allie Pagana added 10 in Loyalsock's 57-29 win over Hughesville on Wednesday night. Gabby Gavitt scored eight points for Hughesville in the loss.

Crystal Good scored 12 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in Muncy's 51-49 win over South Williamsport.

Meghan Trenholm (18) and Emily Sholder (15) combined for 33 points and St. John Neumann won in convincing fashion, 53-18 at Sullivan County. The Knights (8-2) held Sullivan to one point in the second quarter and two in the fourth.

In a defensive struggle, Montgomery outlasted Bloomsburg, 28-25. Corinne Shaffer scored a team-high eight points to lead Montgomery.

Milton's Emily Baker had 13 points and the Black Panthers overcame 23 turnovers to defeat Danville, 43-40.

A big second quarter carried Central Columbia past Warrior Run, 60-52. The Blue Jays outscored the Defenders, 23-12, in the second quarter. Steph Shamburg scored 18 for Warrior Run.

Shamokin jumped out to a 21-4 first-quarter lead and defeated Jersey Shore, 52-25. Kayla Allen led the Bulldogs with 12 points.

In boys basketball, a slow start doomed Canton in a 59-51 loss to Canton. The Warriors scored just 12 first-half points. Emmett Watson led Canton with 18 points.

Williamson's Troy Adriance scored 22 points and Hunter Huyett added 19 as the Warriors defeated Cowanesque Valley, 52-39.

Behind 21 points from Jordan Jackson, Wellsboro cruised past Mansfield, 71-35. Taylor Hillson paced Mansfield with 10 points.

In wrestling, Loyalsock defeated Sugar Valley, 57-12. The Lancers recorded four pins.
