Philip A. Rhoads, 95, of 1129 Walnut St., Montoursville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at his home.
He was born April 19, 1917, in Williamsport, a son of Andrew S. and Ada Bedford Rhoads.
Philip graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1935 and from Penn State University in 1940, where he was a member of the hockey team and glee club. He retired in 1979 from the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. in Williamsport. Philip was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he sang in the church choir for over 40 years, Sunday School Teacher for 25 years and was part of the Church Vestry. Philip was also a member of the Bethlehem Steel Retirees, Ivy Lodge No. 397 F&AM, Williamsport Consistory, White Deer Gold Club, life member of the PSU Alumni and was a 33rd Degree Mason. Philip enjoyed bowling in area leagues and hunting.

He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Leona M. Hill in 1985 and by a sister, Louise R. Schaeffer.
Philip is survived by his wife, the former Helen Tezyk Bruder; three sons, Michael A. (Susan), David P. (Candy) and Stephen R. (Marjorie); a daughter, Nancy L. (Ronald) Whipple; three stepsons, Donald (Ceal), David (Mary) and Thomas Bruder; two stepdaughters, Donna (Samuel) Smith and Kathryn (Bruce) Thomas; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 19, 2013, at Christ Episcopal Church, 426 Mulberry St., Williamsport, with Rev. Thomas P. Reeder and Rev. Dr. Susan Schaeffer officiating. Interment will be in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Williamsport Scottish Rite, 348 N. Market St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to the Ivy Lodge No. 397 F&AM, 360 Market St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
